craft apothecary

/kraft ə-ˈpä-thə-ˌker-ē/ • noun

  1. A curious and cozy place where secondhand art supplies, unfinished projects, and creative odds & ends find new life.

  2. A community-centered non-profit where makers, dreamers, and doers gather to reuse, re-imagine, and create—together.

  3. A magical mix of vintage charm, sustainability, and artistic inspiration.

  4. A firm believer that crafting is medicine for the soul—one stitch, stroke, or embellishment at a time.

Synonyms: creative reuse haven, makers' sanctuary, thrift shop for the soul

The Craft Apothecary will be a curated secondhand store focused exclusively on secondhand art and craft supplies, serving as both a retail space and a community gathering place for creatives. This concept combines environmental sustainability with artistic accessibility—encouraging people to donate or purchase gently used or unfinished craft projects and materials rather than letting them go to waste.

How It Works

1

Donate

Have craft supplies collecting dust? We accept gently used art and craft materials and tools. Donated supplies are sorted, and displayed in our retail space for others to be inspired.

Every donation helps keep usable materials out of the landfill and fuels a creative, community-first space.

2

Shop Creatively

Explore a curated selection of pre-loved and rescued craft supplies—everything from fabric and yarn to paints, paper, beads, and buttons. Everything is rescued, sorted, and ready for a second life in someone else’s hands.

Whether you're starting something new or finishing a half-done project, you’ll find materials that are unique, affordable, and full of possibility. Inventory changes often, so each visit is a treasure hunt. Every purchase supports the growth of our community space.

3

Sustainability & Purpose

Our mission is to reduce creative waste and rethink how we consume art and craft supplies.
We do this by:

  • Rescuing materials that would otherwise end up in landfills

  • Selling small items like beads, buttons, fabric, and paper by weight

  • Using recyclable or reusable packaging

  • Prioritizing low packaging supply purchases to avoid unnecessary plastic

Crafting is more joyful when it’s also more mindful.

4

Community & Connection

This is more than a shop—it’s a gathering place. We’re building a creative hub where people can:

  • Come to Community Crafting Days

  • Collaborate, trade ideas, and share skills

  • Access tools and supplies they might not own individually

  • Partner with the Owatonna Makerspace to explore new ideas, develop projects, and spark entrepreneurship

It’s a space for creative souls to connect and make something meaningful—together.
